Chronicle Books and Moleskine journals

Like any good pirate, Bob has a lot to say. And he loves to write it down. He’s hoping one day his autobiography will become a best-seller! But to write your story, you need a good journal to write it in. There are several good journals on the market, produced by two very good companies. So get ready:

Bob loves several of Chronicle Books journals. They’re so amazing he usually feels he’s unworthy to write in them! But you don’t have to…

1. Wanderlust Travel Journal
(By: Troy M. Litten)

wanderlustBob bought this one years ago, but it’s still on the market! And no wonder – this journal is a piece of art. Unlined, the pages are decorated with symbols you would find on airplanes, buses, and taxis. There are beautiful pictures and maps. It’s great for anyone who travels and wants to keep track of all the places they’ve been and sights they’ve seen. It also has a clear, plastic jacket to keep it extra safe.

Layout 1Another beautiful journal! Each page is lined like graph-paper and bordered by beautiful flower illustrations. Soft pastel colors and flower terminology makes it a wonderful blend of technical and natural.  If you don’t like something about this one, you may like Jill Bliss’ other journal also published by Chronicle: the Native Herbs journal. There’s also a Native Flowers address book.

Talk about a fun journal! Featuring cute, stylized animals it’s just…ADORABLE. It has blank, lined, and graph-paper pages and bright colors everywhere. It’s also got an old-school, worn look to it. But mostly it’s just cute, cute, cute. There’s nothing more I can say. That’s the best part about it.

What is Moleskine?
(mol-a-skeen’-a)

MOLESKINE is the legendary notebook that has held the inspirations and ideas of everyone from Van Gogh, Picasso and Hemingway to famed author, Bruce Chatwin. Artists, authors, and geniuses of all variety have long appreciated the simplicity and superior functionality of these notebooks.

Bob’s favorite is the Sketchbook, but Moleskine is big on variety. If you need a notebook, they have it.

yhst-71326348041790_2075_22246468There are Limited Edition Moleskine’s (like their Woodstock collection); 18-month and 12-month Planners; Pocket and “Large” Sketch Notebooks; Folio Books; Red Notebooks; Reporter Notebooks; Watercolor Notebooks; Soft Cover Notebooks; Cahier Notebooks; Volant Notebooks; and the super cute City Notebooks. They’re fun, durable, and even a little sexy.

Prices range from $5 to $20, depending on which design/size you want.

Well, what are you waiting for? Go out and get a journal! Start your story! Or do you have a better journal? If so, let Bob know~!

Quirk Classics: Sense and Sensibilty and Sea Monsters

3723633486_a6a23f1c72

WHAT IS IT?

By now you know all about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.  And if so, hopefully you know that the next installment, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, is also out!  If not, fire and thunder! What is wrong with you?!   Perish and plague me, but have ye been livin’ beneath a rock?

This is completely relevant to Bob’s interests.  After all, what pirate isn’t interested in the lore of sea monsters?  And what pirate doesn’t secretly want an excuse to read Jane Austin?  Perfect~!

So far, SSSM is an even better, and more satisfying, read than PPZ.  With more mayhem mixed in by new co-author Ben Winters, there won’t be pages and pages of the original Austen plot left un-sea monster-y.  Plus, the illustrations by Eugene Smith are breathtakingly epic.

WHERE DO I GET IT?

From any bookstore, of course! Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Borders… even WalMart had it (but don’t shop at WalMart, they treat pirates like dirt).  Price runs about $12.95, and it’s worth it.  You need to educate yourself about the horrid Alternation of the sea that changed English life forever…

ALREADY READ IT?

Then give Bob a piece o’ your mind! But don’t ruin the ending for him!

The Pirate Primer

WHAT IS IT?

Even pirates need a guide book! But where is a bile-laden sod going to find such a treasure?  That’s where George Choundas’ Pirate Primer: Mastering the Language of Swashbucklers and Rogues comes in handy.  Bob bought his and he’s been arg-ing and aye-ing ever since.

Here’s some of what you can learn:

crossgrained [crarss-grayeend] perverse; troublesome

crowing [crowin'] pompous or arrogant without good reason; self-aggrandizing

AND MORE! Learn greetings, calls, flourishes, commands, threats, oaths, curses, retorts, etc etc etc!  The best part about the primer is that it’s more than a dictonary because it covers grammer and syntax as well.

WHERE DO I GET IT?

Any fine bookstore will carry it, but to insure you can find it you might want to order it online.  the average price is going to be around $20, and it’s hardcover.
